Hi everyone! new to the fish world! it's actually my boyfriends hobby but as I am at home I'm now the one who has to care for them and have discovered that they are so interesting!
OK, back to my problem...
I have a female demansoni who has been aggressively attacked by the male, she was holding and he didn't stop harassing her! she has released her eggs (yesterday) and I've put the fry in a breeding net, (which I'm still not sure if that was a good idea because all the debris from the wood etc. seems to get stuck around the net!)and I have placed her in a separate[/b] tank, changing the water constantly. She has lost her colour and is not eating. How can I nurse her back to help??....
Thank you for any advice you can give me!!!

She might not eat until you move the male out. Or maybe she wont eat due to protecting nest. Some cichlids refuse to eat while nesting. Try moving the male first into a seperate tank.

If I read you right the female is separated in a different tank? If so she may still be holding more fry. If so she will release them in due time. This is about the only reason she wouldn't eat if she is alone.
How many demaisoni do you have in the tank. Sounds like you need to add some more if she is constantly getting chased.

A group of 20 or more is what i would reccommend. If she is already separated then i would make the temp up to about 84 degrees add a couple tablespoons of salt. Maybe even some Melafix. It is a natural product that will help. You can get it at most LFS. Just let the fish relax by itself and don't move her back in until she is healed Completely. I stopped trying to raise them just because they are so aggressive.
